What is a “GREEN” product?
We define Green based on the EPA’s Design for the Environment’s framework for Green Cleaners. There are other certifying agencies out there, however we think that the EPA’s version is the best bet for eco-friendly performance.
How is GREEN different from eco-friendly?
Though these two terms are often used interchangeably, Green is in reference to the highest standards in safety in regards to environmental impact as well as human and animal safety. Eco-friendly is much more nebulous and can mean many things. We use the term Eco friendly or eco safe to refer to products who may have an elevated pH, or other ingredient which would disqualify it from being a completely Green product.
Aren’t all nature-based products GREEN?
This is contrary to the logic that if it comes from nature, it should be safe in nature. Many types of natural ingredients are distilled from their natural sources, making them much more potent than they would normally be (I’m looking at you, d-Limonene). In addition, there are poisons and other harmful substances found in nature that you wouldn’t want to get on your skin.
Why are some of the Green77 products not Green?
Although we try to achieve a Green level of ingredient composition in every one of our products, some times there may not exist a suitable Green alternative to products currently in use. Or they may be so cost prohibitive that it is still not a viable choice when it comes to large scale usage. Rest assured, whenever we get the chance, we update our non Green products to their more beneficial counterparts ASAP.
